Vascular Healthcare Ultrasound is an ultrasound practice specialising in non-invasive imaging of the vascular system.
This includes Doppler ultrasound examination of the arteries and veins of the legs, arms, abdomen and neck by experienced staff with specific qualifications and training in performing vascular ultrasound.
The sonographers at Vascular HealthCare work closely with the vascular surgeons ensuring accuracy in all examinations. They meet regularly to discuss patient cases and compare ultrasound findings with angiogram images.
Jenny has worked in the field of vascular ultrasound for nearly twenty years. She trained at the Cardio Vascular Centre in Newcastle and was awarded the Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography (DMU-Vasc) in February 1999. She has specialised in phlebology work for over thirteen years and has been the dedicated sonographer for Hunter Vein Clinic since its inception in February 2006. She works closely with phlebologist Dr Naomi Hunter, and is involved with all stages of patient care, from initial mapping scans to treatment under ultrasound guidance and follow up regimes. She is a member of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine, the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry, and is an affiliate member of the Australasian College of Phlebology. Jenny has performed diagnostic venous ultrasound examinations on literally thousands of lower limbs and has assisted with over 500 endovenous laser procedures. She frequently participates in venous conferences and demonstrations, and in-house education sessions for general practitioners.
Kylie joined the Vascular HealthCare team in 2018 with over seven years’ experience as a vascular sonographer. Her qualifications include Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Radiation Therapy), Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography (Vascular) and most recently, Masters of Clinical Education. Kylie has a keen interest in sonography education, has presented at local conferences, and is an active member and examiner for the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.
Shannon joined Vascular HealthCare after gaining a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Nuclear Medicine) in 2013. Shannon is now completing her Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography (DMU – Vascular). Working closely with Hunter Vein Clinic and the surgeons at Vascular HealthCare, she continues to increase her experience in pre- and post- treatment scanning for both venous and arterial, whilst delivering a high level of patient care.
Having completed a degree in Biomedical Science with first class honours in 2007 at the University of Newcastle, he then spent a number of years as a research scientist investigating mechanisms of chemoresistance in metastatic melanoma. He has worked as a vascular sonographer with the team at Vascular HealthCare since 2014.
Richard Rounsley joined Vascular HealthCare after 14 years in pathology. Starting his career as a trainee after completing the Higher School Certificate, Richard gained qualifications in pathology, a degree in medical science and completed the Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography (DMU-Vasc). In addition he has a special interest in electronic health communication. Like all sonographers at Vascular HealthCare Ultrasound, Richard works closely with the surgeons at Vascular HealthCare in case reviews and continuing education.
